Vancouver Meditation Group of SRF

The Vancouver Meditation Group of Self-Realization Fellowship was established in 1951 to serve the growing number of spiritual seekers in British Columbia drawn to the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi. As part of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF)—the international organization founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1920, we are dedicated to sharing his universal, nonsectarian teachings on the ancient science of Kriya Yoga and the art of balanced spiritual living.

For over seven decades, our group has provided a peaceful environment where individuals can come together for meditation, spiritual study, and fellowship. We offer regular group meditations, scriptural readings, inspirational services, and special commemorative events in harmony with the worldwide activities of SRF.

Whether you’re new to meditation or an experienced practitioner, we warmly welcome you to join us in experiencing the inner peace, joy, and divine presence that meditation brings. Our purpose is to support the spiritual growth of all who are seeking a deeper relationship with God and a more meaningful life rooted in soul-awareness.

Group History

Yogananda in Vancouver

Sept. 6, 1924 – Arrives in Vancouver, BC, from Seattle. Visits a Hindu temple. Writes postcard to Dr. Lewis and says the he went to Pike’s Peak on the way.
Sept. 8, 1924 – Writes postcard to Dr. Lewis from Vancouver, saying “Reached here safely 160 miles from Seattle.”
Sept. 9, 1924 – Departs for Alaska via SS Admiral Evans steamer for 26-day trip to Anchorage.
